Putin, Helicopter
International News: The Russia-Ukraine war has now reached a new and dangerous turn. Now this war is not limited to the border, but attempts are being made to directly target the top leadership. The latest example of this is a drone attack by Ukraine on Russian President Vladimir Putin's helicopter. This incident happened when Putin was on a tour of the Kursk region of Russia. During the attack, the Russian air defense forces demonstrated amazing efficiency and readiness and evacuated the President safely.
Russian Air Defense Division Commander Yuri Dashkin informed that Putin's helicopter was flying over Kursk when it reached the "epicentre" of the Ukrainian drone attack. According to Dashkin, this attack was unprecedented and the attack intensified even more during Putin's presence. A total of 46 UAVs (drones) were successfully shot down by Russian air defense.
During his visit to Kursk, President Putin met with the governor, local administration and volunteers who were helping victims of the Ukrainian invasion. The visit was meant to symbolically show Russia's regional victory and stability. But the Ukrainian attack once again showed that the war is no longer confined to the fronts. Dashkin said that the air defense forces had to work on several fronts simultaneously to protect Putin's helicopter. This included thwarting the drone attack and evacuating the President's aircraft. His team carried out both tasks with complete success and all the air targets were destroyed.
In recent days, Ukraine has drastically increased the number of drone attacks inside Russia. Russia hit 764 drones only between Tuesday to Friday. The Russian Defense Ministry said that hundreds of drone attacks were also foiled on Saturday and Sunday. This strategy of Ukraine indicates prolonging war and challenging Russia's internal security.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has questioned the role of Western countries behind this attack. He said that the leaders of Britain, France, Germany and the European Union are promoting the conflict by supporting Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the purpose of the increase in drone attacks may be to derail the possible peace talks being held under the mediation of America. However, Russia has once again said that it remains committed to a solution through dialogue.
